LinkedIn was the most-cited domain for professional queries inside Profound’s specific study, not necessarily across every AI answer. The study covered 1.4 million citations from six AI platforms between November 15, 2025 and February 15, 2026. Its useful finding is that public posts, articles and newsletters—not only profiles—were gaining citation share.

Profound analyzed professional-query citations across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity. LinkedIn ranked first for that query basket, while its overall ChatGPT domain rank moved from roughly 11 to roughly 5. Read the original Profound research and methodology.
The scope matters. This was a synthetic professional prompt basket and a defined three-month window. It does not prove that LinkedIn is the top source for healthcare, shopping or every country, nor that posting guarantees a citation.
LinkedIn joins people, job titles, companies, products and recent commentary in public professional pages. That makes it useful for questions about expertise, vendors, careers and industry change. A named practitioner explaining a process provides stronger entity and experience signals than an anonymous promotional paragraph.
However, public accessibility, source quality and query relevance still matter. A high-engagement post is not automatically citation-worthy, and a private or login-constrained page may be difficult to retrieve.
Collect 30–50 questions from sales calls, GSC, support tickets and comparison research. Separate category, problem, comparison, expert and employer prompts. Assign each to an executive or practitioner who has real experience.
Strong posts define the problem, state a specific claim, show a method or example, date the evidence and link to a durable source. Long-form articles and newsletters suit frameworks; short posts suit timely observations. Do not fabricate statistics or repeat the company tagline.
Publish the complete research, documentation or case study on your site, then use LinkedIn to add practitioner context and distribution. Keep product names, descriptions, author identity and URLs consistent. LinkedIn should reinforce—not replace—the source page you control.
Track the same prompts repeatedly and record whether AI answers cite a LinkedIn profile, post, article, company page or owned URL. Measure mention rate, citation rate, recommendation context and sentiment separately. Compare against referral sessions and qualified conversions.

Dageno helps teams monitor professional prompt groups, identify cited domains and pages, compare competitors and turn source gaps into content or authority actions. The meaningful question is not “did we post?” but “did the same buyer prompts begin citing more accurate and useful evidence?”

In week three, publish one evidence-led article and several practitioner posts. In week four, rerun the controlled prompt set and compare source types. Do not claim causation unless the cited URL or narrative changes repeatedly after the intervention.

The Profound study makes LinkedIn a serious test channel for professional GEO, but not a universal ranking shortcut. Brands should publish specific, attributable expertise, connect it to owned evidence and measure citations across a stable prompt set.
